Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction is an abnormal movement of the jaw bone. It is often caused by teeth grinding or clenching. If there is discomfort or pain in the jaw, symptoms such as clicking, locking or facial pain may arise.
Teeth grinding often occurs at night when you’re sleeping. You may experience symptoms such as headaches or jaw pain when you wake up.
How is TMJ dysfunction pain treated?
Treatments may involve simple techniques, various jaw exercises, or wearing a night guard.
