Preventative Dentistry & Check-Ups

Comprehensive Check-ups

You should be having regular dental check-ups every 6 months. This helps to maintain good oral health and prevent complex and costly dental treatment.

What do dental check-ups involve?

Our dental check-ups involve a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and mouth. We then discuss the results with you and formulate an appropriate treatment plan.

Dental X-rays

Dental x-rays are an important aspect of any dental examinations of your oral health as they give clear indications of what is occurring inside areas of the mouth we cannot see with our eyes.

What an x-ray may reveal

  • Abscesses or cysts.
  • Bone loss.
  • Decay between the teeth.
  • Developmental abnormalities.
  • Poor tooth and root positions.
  • Sinus issues
  • TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) issues.

X-rays for Children

The need for an x-ray for a child can vary, depending on their oral health condition. By taking an x-ray this can help detect cavities developing between teeth.

Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene is an important daily routine to ensure your mouth is clean and free of disease. Our experienced Hygienists aim to improve your oral health by instructing you correctly with your daily brushing / flossing routine and providing you a comprehensive and thorough scale, clean and fluoride treatment. They will also provide any diagnostic x-rays if required.

How do you know if you have good oral hygiene?

You should be looking for the following signs:

  • Your teeth are clean and free of plaque
  • Gums are pink and do not hurt or bleed when you brush or floss
  • Pleasant Breath
  • Non-sensitive teeth
  • The smooth, non-gritty texture on your teeth

If your gums hurt or bleed while brushing or flossing, or you are experiencing persistent bad breath, any of these conditions may indicate a problem.
